P.Morrissey Contracting Builds Kitchen for Mt. Kisco Library

Filed under: News, Opinion — admin @ 9:15 am

Mount Kisco is a wonderful community because of the people that volunteer and donate to the community.  This community is fortunate to have its volunteeer firefighters and ambulance corps.  The community also benefits from merchants and businesses, such as P.Morrissey Contracting, that donate to the community.

If you are in the new Mount Kisco Library, visit the community room.  In the community room, P.Morrissey Contracting donated a kitchenette with custom-made cabinets to match the library’s walls and doors.   P.Morrissey Contracting donated the appliances and plumbing fixtures as well as the carpentry, electrical and plumbing work.  When Pat Morrissey was contacted, he said that he was proud to donate his services to the Mount Kisco Library and hopes that all residents will enjoy the library.

There is a link for P.Morrissey Contracting on the right side of this screen.  If you need a home renovation project or new home construction (or know someone who does), please contact the generous and skillful contruction crew at P.Morrissey Contracting.

Community Gardens Grow in Mt. Kisco

Filed under: News — admin @ 1:47 pm

There are two community garden projects moving forward in Mount Kisco.

The first project is a 60-plot community garden at Marsh Sanctuary. The garden is being organized by InterGenerate, a nonprofit group that advocates environmental and social sustainability in northern Westchester. The project is being underwritten by a $20,000 grant from the Rusticus Garden Club of Bedford. The community garden will be within walking distance of Leonard Park.

The second project is a community garden sponsored by the Mount Kisco Elementary School and the Mount Kisco Elementary School Association. The community garden will be started in a patch of unused land where an unused tennis court sits on the south side of West Hyatt. Most likely left over from the years when the Mount Kisco Elementary School building housed classes from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Mt. Kisco Firefighters Hold Communion Breakfast

Filed under: News — admin @ 1:47 pm

On Sunday morning at 7:30, the Mount Kisco Fire Department Ancient Fife & Drum Corps was marching up Green Street. While some may have thought it was the start of a march either for or against health care reform, it was the procession from the Green Street firehouse to Saint Francis Church for mass before the Mount Kisco Fire Department’s Communion Breakfast.

Once each year, the fire department has mass and then breakfast. This year’s breakfast was dedicated to two firefighters, Whitey Malsbury and Anthony Cerbone, two firefighters that passed away during the year. This year’s breakfast also marks the near end of the term of Fire Department Chief Al Bueti. After mass, the firefighters formed a line to salute Chief Al Bueti. Thank you to Chief Bueti for his service.
