At a press conference in White Plains, County Legislator Peter Harckham announced he will seek the New York State Assembly seat for the 89th district being vacated by Adam Bradley. The election date for this position will be announced by Governor Patterson after Adam Bradley is sworn in as Mayor of White Plains on January 1.
Peter Harckham should be quite familiar with the 89th district as he already represents a large portion of the district. Peter Harckham serves Mount Kisco, Bedford, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge, which are in the 89th district, as well as North Salem and Somers. As Assemblyman, he will have to further serve New Castle, North Castle, Harrison and parts of White Plains.
As documented on this blog, Peter Harckham has looked after Mount Kisco’s interests and directed funds for the construction of the Mount Kisco Library (September 14, 2009) and to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester to support its programs (April 17, 2009).
