Newly-elected Assemblyman Castelli is holding a rally today at 11:00 to oppose the possible closure of the John Jay Homestead State Historic Park, which is a national historic site. John Jay Homestead is one of many New York State parks slated to close to save money during this budget crisis. Joining the assemblyman at the event will be several local conservation organizations, including the Westchester Land Turust, elected officials from throughout the area and supporters of the John Jay Homestead State Historic Park.
Hopefully, Assemblyman Castelli will identify other cuts in the New York State budget to allow New York State to both cut expenditures and keep John Jay Homestead open. In Mount Kisco, where he took an oath on office on February 12, Assemblyman Castelli pledged to cut state spending and property taxes.
The rally will be held at the John Jay Homestead Historic Site in Katonah.
