After talling the votes in the Bedford Central School District elections, 70% (1,861) of the voters approved the 2011-12 school budget with just 30% voting against it (766).
In the election for the open Board of Director seat, both incumbents earned themselves three more years of torture in what has been called one of the most thankless volunteer positions in America. Eric Karle was running unopposed while Mark Chernis defeated Mount Kisco resident and volunteer Richard Hooker.
The budget includes a 2.15% spending increase from the current year’s budget. The property tax increase will average a 1.8% increase across the district. As a result of equalization rates, the tax increases will vary by town. Mount Kisco will have a 7% increase while Bedford residents will have 3% decrease.
The following are the election results by polling place:
|Mount Kisco Elementary||307||140||288||92|
|West Patent Elementary||280||90||252||64|
