Almost around the clock, the Mount Kisco Fire Department has been working to complete the 9/11 Memorial. The 9-11 Memorial has been planned, built and financed by volunteers from the Mount Kisco Fire Department.
As pictured below, the two slabs of black granite to symbolize the World Trade Center towers have been installed in the middle of the framework for the pentangular pool to memorialize the victims of the attack on the Pentagon. The granite slabs have the names of the brave firefighters lost in the rescue after the attack. The granite slabs also have the names of local residents killed in the attacks. The Mount Kisco Fire Department has also added a beam of steel from one of the towers to the memorial.
The dedication has been set for Sunday, September 11, the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
There is still time to donate funds needed for the materials used by the Mount Kisco Fire Department. To donate, send a check payable to the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 91; Mount Kisco, NY 10549.
