Mount Kisco Little Leaguers Win League; Battle to Last Out in Championship Final

Mount Kisco’s U10 baseball team finished its successful season on Saturday in the championship game against Lewisboro.

The team, coached by Ralph Nuzzi and Steven DiFiore, played well all year with a 16-2 regular season record. After finishing with the first seed in the American League of the WPBA U10 division, the team defeated Somers, Briarcliff Manor and Carmel in the playoffs to make it to the championship game. By making the championship game, they became the first Mount Kisco team to make the championship game in the last decade.

The championship game had several highlights for Mount Kisco as they built an 8-0 lead. The game was also memorable as it was a return game for Mikey Corsi, returning from a serious illness that required surgery and was the impetus for a drive to furnish each Mount Kisco Little League team with a defibrillator.

The Lewisboro team, however, showed that they had character and team unity as they battled back from a 9-3 deficit to edge Mount Kisco by a 10-9 score. Hopefully, this game will give the talented Mount Kisco team the chance to develop the character and team unity to return to the playoffs and become champions next year.
