Special vocal performance by the children of Mount Kisco Child Care Center
The Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) will host a benefit concert on June 15, 2012 at 6:30p.m. at Chappaqua Crossing, in Chappaqua, featuring performances by Sarah Lee Guthrie and husband Johnny Irion. The concert will also feature a special vocal performance by children of MKCCC. All proceeds from the event will go directly toward the Center’s Scholarship Initiative.
Sarah Lee Guthrie, granddaughter of legendary singer-songwriter and folk musician Woody Guthrie, first collaborated with husband, Johnny Irion on the album, Exploration,
in 2005. Since, the two have toured extensively both as a duo and as part of the “Guthrie Family Rides Again” tour. The couple has released a children’s album, Go Waggaloo, inspired by their two children, Olivia and Sophia that features songs created to inspire and educate children.
Children at the Center will open and close the show with a special vocal performance of songs learned throughout the year.
Through its Scholarship Initiative, MKCCC provides tuition assistance to children in need who would not otherwise be able to enroll. Children benefit from the Center’s award-winning programming while parents are able to find and retain employment. MKCCC is well known for its quality, innovative programs including its comprehensive nutrition program, Feed Me Fresh and its intergenerational program, JEWEL.
Details about the concert will be available on the Center’s website at www.mkccc.org. Tickets are available for $35 per adult and $15 per child. Prices higher at the door. Children under three are free when they sit on the lap of an adult; one child per lap.
