MKLL Champion Crowned; Ed Reilly to Retire as President of MKLL

On Monday night, the team of Shapiro Gettinger & Waldinger (commonly known as “Banks”) defeated M&R Deli by a score of 2-0 to win the Mount Kisco Little League championship.  It was another exciting year for the Mount Kisco Little League and its sponsors, the aforementioned Banks and M&R Deli as well as Bellizzi, Cassidy Flynn, Elks and Whalens, all local businesses.

While SG&W had a successful season, it could never match the successful multi-year stretch achieved by Ed Reilly who has served many years as the President of the MKLL.  Thank you to Ed Reilly for his years of service.

The MKLL will wrap up its season this Thursday with MKLL end of year games (9 year olds vs. 10 year olds / 11 year olds vs 12 year olds) followed by awards and then a home run derby.

Pictures taken below are from the M&R Deli vs. Cassidy Flynn game which was the game before the championship game.  Thank you to Art Nelson for providing pictures.  My favorite one is the picture on the right which teaches the young men the value of sportsmanship.

FLHS Girls Lacrosse Team in Section I Finals Today

Fox Lane High School girl’s lacrosse team will play today, weather permitting, in the Section I Class B championship game at 7:00 p.m. against Brewster at Fox Lane High School. Fox Lane is the top-seeded team in the Section I Class B tournament although Brewster defeated Fox Lane by a score of 7-6 when the teams met in April. Fox Lane is making its third straight finals appearance, making it to the state final in 2010 and losing in the Section I championship game last year. There are, unfortunately, no Mount Kisco residents on the Fox Lane High School girl’s lacrosse team. Hopefully, with the growth of the Fox Lane Lacrosse Club, Mount Kisco residents will learn the game earlier and make the Fox Lane High School team even stronger than it has been the last three years.

Pictures of MKFD Extinguishing Another Fire

On March 10, the MKFD extinguished another fire. This fire, on Leonard Street, destoyed an attached garage.

The picture above, one of many taken by Art Nelson, were taken on the night of the fire. The fire was directly behind Art Nelson’s home. As Art described to me, “The damage would have been worse if not for the quick work provided by the Mount Kisco Fire Department.”
