After several delays, the Village of Mount Kisco finally planted trees at the end of Washburn Road to block the road sign on the Saw Mill Parkway placed in a clearing at the end of the street by the New York State DOT. See the before and after pictures below.
Besides the natural benefit of planting trees in Mount Kisco, the residents of Washburn Road benefit because their view of the road sign is now blocked. Since the trees were donated to the Village of Mount Kisco by the owner of the BMW dealership in Mount Kisco, the taxpayers did not pay for the planting of these trees. There will still be a few trees from BMW to replace trees in the downtown area.
The Village government needs to react more quickly to neighborhood issues, especially when the cost of the remediation is minor.
