FLHS Girls Lacrosse Team in Section I Finals Today

Fox Lane High School girl’s lacrosse team will play today, weather permitting, in the Section I Class B championship game at 7:00 p.m. against Brewster at Fox Lane High School. Fox Lane is the top-seeded team in the Section I Class B tournament although Brewster defeated Fox Lane by a score of 7-6 when the teams met in April. Fox Lane is making its third straight finals appearance, making it to the state final in 2010 and losing in the Section I championship game last year. There are, unfortunately, no Mount Kisco residents on the Fox Lane High School girl’s lacrosse team. Hopefully, with the growth of the Fox Lane Lacrosse Club, Mount Kisco residents will learn the game earlier and make the Fox Lane High School team even stronger than it has been the last three years.

State Senator Greg Ball Holds Discussion in Mount Kisco

State Senator Greg Ball (on the far left in the picture below) held a discussion in Mount Kisco to discuss local issues with Mount Kisco residents. The topics discussed with the Senator ranged from taxes to local business to services for individuals with autism.

Senator Ball, who will be up for election in November, was thanked by Melanie Schaffran a local resident, for his work with and on behalf of the Foundation for Educating Children with Autism and the programs they provide for children and adults with autism.

Whether or not you agree with Senator Ball’s policies, he has been an eager and enthusiastic advocate for residents in his district, even those that are disabled from whom he will never receive a vote.

Quote of the Week

Poem by Tecumseh read in the movie “Act of Valor”

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”
