There are quite a few projects and tasks that need to be performed in Mount Kisco. Some of these are small capital projects while others might involve hiring a new employee or passing a new local law.
The project identified in this week’s article is an easy and relatively inexpensive one. This project is replacing the bridge over Branch Brook that was recently taken down for safety reasons.
In the last election campaign, there was a lot of rhetoric about improving the business environment for Mount Kisco. Part of that business environment involves a walkable downtown. Currently, the Village of Mount Kisco has decided to not replace this bridge over Branch Brook. This makes it more difficult for pedestrians to cross over from the movie theater to the stores and parking on the west side of Shoppers Park.
The replacement of this bridge will only cost a few thousand dollars or about the same amount as it might take to rip up the pavement going to the bridge. Or is it the Village administration’s plan to leave the sidewalk in place leading to a makeshift barrier as pictured below. The Village of Mount Kisco should take action and replace the bridge over Branch Brook.
